In the Wild West films that were produced in the past, the phrase "he who hits first hits twice" was always honored or, in the best of cases, whoever shoots first kills the opponent immediately. But in reality, the person or company that executes the action first will not always have the advantage of the one that does not. Sometimes it is wise to analyze what others are doing in the market to discover which is the best way to go. Watch Thunderbolt, Fastest in the West videos at kissanime

At present, Apple has been a bit on the sidelines of some of the fashionable technologies in the market of high-speed transmission ports of the type eSata and USB 3.0 but, in most cases, the apple company we show that the wait was worth it !! The latest Mac models come with a port that for many are going to be the fastest and most accepted in the West since it has managed to combine high speed, image quality, and the interconnection of several devices using the same input in the same port.

I know that so far it may sound a bit confusing; For the same reason, it is worth starting at the beginning. For some time now, two of the giants of the technology market have decided to work together to create great things: this is the case of Intel and Apple, whose relationship has given birth to this small port with many breaths of air of greatness! Which combines:

Intel's data transmission technology of the PCI Express standard, which is 32 times faster than its predecessor PCI 2.1.
The DisplayPort digital audio/video interconnect standard, which supports a maximum data stream of 10.8 Gbit / s and average resolution WQXGA (2560 × 1600).

The result, so far, is indeed the fastest and most surprising not only in the far but in the near west! The port has two channels with the ability to shoot with a flow of up to 10 Gbit / s in a bi-directional way (to import or export data) which can be used to connect several devices (up to 6 devices that use this same port) of data and/or video storage, all this information reaching the same input without the need to use a hub-type port multiplier or a switch. For multiple businesses that have the need to work with huge batches of data on a daily basis, this could be the answer to your prayers by optimizing times and reducing transmission risks.

How to empower the poorest children in the world? One Laptop Per Child believes that this is achieved through education. And in an increasingly digital and connected world, education must include access to portable, robust, and easy-to-use computing and communication systems. OLPC already has more than 2 million laptops distributed in about 40 countries (of which half are in Latin America). And now, after years of design and work, OLPC has presented its XO 3, an 8 ″ tablet in 2 presentations: LCD and PixelQi (which allows you to read outside even in bright light) as the natural evolution of its laptops with which They hope to multiply the number of children in the world who have access to the digital world.

The device, with 4GB of internal storage and 512 MB of RAM, runs Android or Sugar and in addition to the possibility of charging with traditional current, it will have as options a solar charger and a crank for manual charging, extremely useful for remote areas. Its design makes it almost "indestructible" and its silicone cover protects it not only from falls but also from elements such as dust and dirt, present in most places where the device is used.

It is no secret to anyone that the fever for mobile devices is revolutionizing the way we interact with our jobs, our colleagues and our work and personal responsibilities. But this revolution includes a cultural change and an adaptation to changing our interfaces, because we are not really changing anything else. The use of tablets or smart phones is just a change of interface to do the same as we did before.

Our grandparents were born on a donkey or on Mr. Ford's spectacular Model T and ended up by jet with a single objective: to transport themselves from point A to point B. We were born with landlines and letters by mail and we go on cell phones and iPads , but the end is the same, to communicate. They lived the era of the industrial revolution, we lived the information age, in which the way we communicate is the one that changes; the need is the same.

The fever for the apple brand and all its followers make it increasingly common to see tablets in the hands of all kinds of people. All these people have a common goal: to communicate more efficiently, quickly, lightly and easily. But his goal of communicating has not changed.

However, it is also common to see how at least 70% of these people dramatically reduce their use once the fever passes through the device and ends up in the hands of their children (for young children up to 7 years there is an excellent device called the V-Tech Innotab), grandchildren or on the nightstand. The poor devices suffer when they see that after so much enthusiasm and sometimes even savings, they do not see them again, if they manipulate them once a day or have them to see photos.

When I bought my iPad, I was clear that it should make my life easier, easier and lighter, I was looking for a communication channel other than the laptop, therefore the investment should have a personal and work return. To achieve this objective, I had to find a way to change the interface that I use to communicate as I have been doing. Although an iPad is not as powerful as a laptop, with the correct applications it has all the functionalities to perform any personal or work task in the same way as a laptop.

So I must say that the secret lies in a cultural change and the applications that are used. Cultural change is the first thing we must attack and is to detach ourselves from the old laptop, leave it at home or at the office. This is achieved by understanding what we do most on our PCs, looking for the applications that provide us with that functionality, testing and practicing.

The applications

Dropbox, DocsToGo and Cloud On:
More than being able to have an Office editor on the iPad or iPhone, the great value of these combined applications is to forget about the hard disk, the CD or even the USB memory. I managed to optimize my documents and today I handle all my important files (not the junk that we keep just in case and never see) in Dropbox. This allows me to have 100% access to the latest versions of all my documents, on the iPad, the iPhone or any computer with an Internet connection. The history of loading the computer to see the document that is on the hard disk is over.

Now, when using the Word, Excel and PowerPoint editors, we can choose between two options, DocsToGo (it must be the Premium edition to be able to use it with DropBox) or Cloud On (new release the App Store). There is a rumor that Microsoft is preparing a version of Office for the iPad but for now it is just that: a rumor. DocsToGo is much more agile and fast, scrolling on the screen is very simple, but it has limited functionalities, such as macros, copy and paste format etc. If we then want to sacrifice a bit of speed in exchange for functionality, there is Cloud On (free) that works as a viewer for any of these three Office programs.

It allows all the functionality of them, and on the iPad keyboard it has arrows for cursor movement, autocorrect, copy and paste formats in Excel (yes, even conditional formats!) It has Shift, Control, Alt and Tab keys. That is to say, it allows an integration and adaptation of the almost transparent human interface to the Tablet, in exchange for a bit of slowness and a security risk that I have not been able to establish if it is real, since it seems that the iPad works as a virtual desktop of the document that is on some remote server with whom one has no confidentiality agreement.

Evernote
It is one of the simplest note-taking applications that I know of, however, its value, again, is based on mobility. With Evernote (which we already mentioned in TECHcetera), I can take notes from my iPad, iPhone, or laptop. Better yet, I can see and modify them in real-time on any of those devices and even on any computer through a Google Chrome gadget for Evernote, and to complete them.
