HP is a well-known name for desktop PC and laptops. HP offers you various ranges of laptop devices. Windows 10 OS provides you regular updates to keep your device secure from the new threats. Whenever new malware appears, Windows provides a new update as a fix patch which can prevent the malware from entering the device. If you have Windows 10 then you will see lots of regular updates. Windows 10 provides automatic updates to ensure the user that your device does not get outdated. But many people reported that they are getting issues while updating 10 on their HP laptop. There are various reasons behind the update error. Most of the time you can easily troubleshoot the Windows update error. You can also ask the HP team for help.

Troubleshooting Windows 10 update error:

Restart your device

Sometimes, your running program or some runtime error can interrupt your update process. Whenever you get the Windows update error then you should restart your device. Close all the programs and press the Windows button. Now click on the power button and choose the restart button. Wait for restarting your device. Now try to update your Windows 10 manually. Follow the given steps for updating your Windows 10:

  1. Press the Windows button
  2. Click on settings
  3. Navigate to Update and Security
  4. Click on Update Now button

Now, wait for completing the update. In case, your program is interrupting the updating process then you should not perform any task on your device until the updating process completes. Once your Windows 10 device gets updated then you have to restart your device. You can easily resume your work then. But your device is still showing update issues then you should seek other solutions.

Check your internet connection

Weak internet connection is one of the most common reasons behind update error. Your weak internet connection can interrupt your update process. When you get the update issue; check your internet connection immediately. Make sure your internet connection is smooth. You must update your antivirus on the secured internet connection. Never use an unsecured network for updating your Windows 10 PC otherwise you may get into other issues. If your device is running on a weak internet connection then you should wait until you get a good connection. 

Pause and Resume

Sometimes your update error can get resolved by simply pausing and resuming your Windows update process. Here are the steps for pausing and resuming your Windows 10 updating process:

  1. Close your all running programs
  2. Press the Windows button from the keyboard
  3. Click on Settings
  4. Tap the update and Security option
  5. Click on Windows Update
  6. Then click on Pause update for 7 days option
  7. Close the window and restart your device
  8. Go to Settings

Tap the Update and Security button and click on the Resume updates option. Now check whether your device is updating or not. 

Free your disk space

Sometimes lack of storage or battery can also trigger the update issues. If your device is running on low space then the automatic update option gets disabled. You can also face errors while running the update manually. Always connect your laptop to the power source while running the update. If the laptop plugged in not charging HP then you should immediately ask the HP team for help. Now uninstall all the unnecessary programs from your device. You can also remove the heavy files like movies and drama series from your device. 

Removing all the junk from your device will free up good hard disk space on your device. Make sure you are deleting the temporary files from your device. Remove all these files from the Windows device and then try to update your Windows. You can also use the Windows disk cleanup tool for removing the junk files:

  1. Close your running program
  2. Press the Windows button
  3. Go to the search bar and type command
  4. Hold the shift and ctrl keys from your keyboard
  5. Press the Enter button
  6. A permission prompt will appear on your screen
  7. Click on Yes button
  8. A black box with a blinking cursor (command screen) will appear 
  9. Type cleanmgr on the command screen

Press the Enter button and the disk cleanup dialog box will appear. You will get a list of all the installed items on your device. Check all the programs one by one and then click on the boxes you want to delete. Then hit the Ok button. Make sure you have checked the temporary files box. Once you remove all the junk from your device then restart your PC. Go to Update and Security. Update your Windows 10 device. If you are still getting errors while updating the Windows 10 HP laptop then ask the HP team for help.
