Adhesive tapes are used extensively across various industries. You may not realize this, but it is indeed an indispensable piece of tool that is used for many purposes, some may even surprise you. Let us take a look at some industries that utilize adhesive tapes.

The Automotive Industry

Generally, up to 50 adhesive tapes are installed inside a new car. While some are pasted on board for the assembly of components or as protection during painting and must be taken off after the production line, others are used for miscellaneous work. They close production-related holes and hold trim, sills and cladding for all temperature-related expansion of the bodywork on site. And they dampen vibrations and noises, for example, in the seat and dashboard.

The Construction Industry

Many components in modern buildings are mounted by adhesive tapes. Yes, they are that strong.

An adhesive tape for the construction and building industry can be found in windows, doors, elevators, air conditioners, furniture, glass partitions, show windows, solar elements or skyscraper façades. Material, design and requirements change with the "visions" of architects and developers who would like to figure out what is technically possible.

The Home Appliances Industry

There are many applications for tapes in the home appliances industry

Refrigerators, stoves, cooking hobs or other household appliances are generally large and bulky. That is why adhesive tapes have traditionally ensured transport safety or helped in the production process. Electronics is increasingly being incorporated into home appliances, new materials and miniature control panels. This is requiring more and more special adhesive tape. Since refrigerators, for example, are also smart devices and have touchscreens that let ice cubes tumble out of a dispenser or brew a cup of coffee, there are double-sided adhesive tapes for control panels, dispenser units and decorative glass panes.

The Medical industry

Surgical tapes are pressure-sensitive tape that is used to hold dressings or bandages onto a wound. They are hypoallergenic and the adhesive has been specifically designed to stick to the skin but easily remove without causing any additional damage. It is a breathable tape, which allows it to encourage healing, and often has zinc oxide included in it to help stop infection.

While wound closure tapes are little pieces of tape that are used to close and protect wounds. They are applied with the purpose of pulling the skin together across the wound and may, in some cases, be used in place of stitches. They are easy to remove and to care for, and don’t result in a lot of scarring when used correctly.

There are many more industries that utilize adhesive tapes. Undoubtedly, the humble adhesive tape is truly a force to be reckoned with as it continues to be developed into innovative solutions for everyday and heavy-duty use.
