A time comes in our lives that we have to take treatment for our eyes. Taking eye treatment on time is a very good idea and can save you from further problems of eyes. It is also possible that after taking a good treatment and taking good post-operative cornea care you will get a crystal clear 20/20 vision without specs or lenses. But first of all you need to know that how you should get started. Here we will discuss about few common eye treatment procedures. By knowing about different eye procedures you can become familiar with them and relate them with you if you underwent any of them.

LASIK- Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis or LASIK is a very popular eye surgery. You might have had come across this term many times. It is quite popular but not by a single means. It too has many variants and you need to discuss about them with your ophthalmologist before going for it. It is a very quick eye surgery which takes very less time. Use of scalpel and alcohol is minimal and pain and healing time is not much but post operative cornea care is needed. Lasik is used treat farsightedness, nearsightedness and Astigmatism.

LASIK surgery is basically performed in two ways. The ultimate aim of LASIK surgery is to reshape the cornea and treat the vision. Reshaping of cornea is done either with the minimal use of scalpel and alcohol or with the use of Laser. The former type can be a bit discomforting but Laser LASIK makes complete use of LASER for reshaping the cornea and is totally painless. The healing time of Laser LASIK is also minimal. Post operative cornea care is a must and it is very important to follow the instruction given by the ophthalmologists.

LASEK- Laser Epithelial Keratomileusis or LASEK is an eye surgery used to treat the most common problems of the yes i.e. nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. It is different from LASIK and is used for persons who have very thin or flattened cornea. It can be said that LASEK eye surgery is an advanced version of LASIK because those patients who didn’t get optimum results out of LASIK are ideal candidates for LASEK. The pain is less but the healing time is a little bit more than the LASIK.

Epi-LASIK- The Epi-LASIK eye surgery is more or less like LASEK surgery because this surgery is also an advanced version of LASIK which is done without the use of scalpel and alcohol and also it has less healing time than LASEK.

PRK- Photo refractive Keratectomy or PRK is used to treat mild degree farsightedness, astigmatism, or nearsightedness. In this eye surgery, the exterior tissue is removed from cornea and eye is reshaped with the help of a Laser. This surgery also takes very less time and has much lesser healing time.

While going for any of the above surgeries, you have to consider all the facts and aspects and also you should consider how it’s going to impact your life.
