How To Choose The Right Lip Shades

One of the things I find when I do makeup on different women, particularly among those of us who love makeup and have been applying it for as long as possible, is that very often one can have a fixation on one part of our face. that part of the face looks stronger than the rest. Fair enough if it comes to lips or eyes, it has been in fashion for a long time to make one of these look stronger. Wear nude lipstick if your eyes are smoky and sensual or put more emphasis on lips with reds and hot pinks when your eyes are softer and more natural. This is not the problem. The biggest problem I find is the eyelashes!

I came across this phenomenon for the first time years ago, when I analyzed and invented color for a beautiful young businesswoman. Her color was natural light blonde and she had beautiful peach skin and she came to my studio with enough black mascara on her lashes to keep me active for a year. I had to remove the black mascara before the session could begin as that's all I could focus on! She couldn't really think or see anything else. I duly did the analysis and made up my client, suggesting a slightly lighter application of a different color. This was very difficult for her as she was so used to seeing her eyelashes every time she looked at herself. However, she trusted me enough to change her ways and actually wrote me a few months later to tell me that her friends had supplemented her with their new makeup look several times.

However, this is the problem, which I find more difficult to break in people, and with the arrival of more lash-enhancing, smudge-proof and ultra-thickening mascara, women are increasingly focusing on lashes, and if you see this look in the mirror every day, you think it is normal!

It is not! And can you tell me why everyone, regardless of color, wears black mascara? For starters, it doesn't look good on blondes or redheads, it doesn't matter if it's day or night, thick or thin. Even on women with a strong color who have used it successfully for years, it can start out and look quite aged and they would be better off going back and wearing a much more flattering black-brown.

My general opinion is that the mascara should subtly enhance the lashes and that those with thin lashes should try some of the thickening masks but in a complementary color to their own coloring. Purples, greens, noisy seascapes, and black are best preserved for the young or daring.

And while I'm on the topic, I think that false eyelashes are a blessing when applied correctly for full nighttime functions, but why do all the famous women on TV seem to feel the urge to wear black false eyelashes? Even during the day. Do you think we don't know or can't see that they are false? Sometimes they can seem ridiculous, surely that is not the goal?

So next time you apply mascara, see how you look in the mirror, try a little less, and see how you look. Check how it looks in daylight, not mid-morning light when you put it on. If the color is too obvious, try a softer one. Makeup is there to enhance and not to replace your natural beauty.
