The devastating effect of Air Pollution, Is it necessary for an Air Purifier?

With the increasing Air Pollution and degrading air quality the Air becomes polluted to breathe. Sometime indoor air is more polluted than outdoor air. There are many ways to tackle the polluted air. But one of simplest way is to install an Air Purifier to clean indoor Air.

Nowadays Air pollution becomes the major concern for humankind. This is the era of globalisation and industrialisation. Due to increasing global warming and degrading Air quality, it is very difficult to find clean breathing air. Now surrounding air is accumulated with dust, pollens, airborne particles. The air pollution is more concentrated around big cities and metros.

Despite decades of progress, but the air quality across the globe started to decline over the past few years. The Air Quality Index of big cities across the globe starts deteriorating and reaches to warning level. Air Pollution is more concentrated in urban areas where higher population density and industrialization. But it also indirectly affects rural areas.

Air pollution is one of the major factors disturbing the ecosystem and raises to global warming. It is the emission of particulates, harmful gases, pollutants and biological molecules and many more in the air. Air pollution can result from both human and natural activities. Although there are many contributors but the burning of fossil fuels, industrial waste, vehicular emissions, excessive mining, agricultural-related activities are the main causes of Air pollution. Pollution can also result from electrical appliances like refrigeratorswashing machines Ovens etc.

As per study Air pollution kills more than 7 million peoples every year.

There are many best practices which can help to reduce the effect of air pollutions.

  • Plant more trees – Trees are our best friend, they will eliminate carbon dioxide from the environment and will release fresh oxygen for our breathing.
  • Get rid of mould - Moulds emits spores into the air which is harmful to human health.
  • Regularly wash your curtains, mats and beddings to reduce the dust from the house
  • Keep your pet clean, bath them regularly, wipe their paws etc.
  • Avoid indoor smoking.
  • Always prefer clean and clear cooking fuel.
  • Always switch off unnecessary electrical appliances.
  • There are many Air Conditioners which has PM filters can help to remove airborne particles from the air.
  • You should use a mask when passing through dirty air.
  • You should install an Air Purifier to eliminate indoor air pollution.

What is an Air purifier and how it works to clean air?

An Air purifier has multiple filters which remove pollutants and cleans the air. The main issue with Air purifiers is that people are still not fully aware of it. We are still thinking Air purifiers as a luxury rather an essential home appliance. People are still not aware of indoor air pollution. We spend most of the day under the roof.

You should install an air purifier due to following reasons -

  • It traps PM2.5 and PM10 particles from the air.
  • It removes up to 99.9% of bacteria, fungi, viruses, harmful gases from the air.
  • It helps to remove any indoor allergies and odours. This will help people suffering from asthma and allergies.
  • Smoke – Indoor smoking, fireplace soot, fuels, electrical appliances releases harmful gases and smoke.
  • Pets – Air purifier traps airborne allergens released by pets. It can remove pet dander, odours as well as their dead hair.

An air purifier has multiple filters such as PM filter, charcoal filter, HEPA filters. It will clean the air in each step. It removes the dust, airborne particle, pollens, harmful gases and chemicals. There are many air purifiers which have activated carbon filters which will eliminate the bad odours from the air. They are capable of eliminating particles as small as 2.5 micrometres.
If you install an air purifier then at least you can control your indoor air pollution. While going out you should wear a mask if the AQI of your city is in warming level.
