Importance of Dussehra (Significance of Vijayadashami)

1. Victory of Lord Rama - On this day, Lord Rama defeated Ravana and won back Goddess Sita.

2. Triumph of Goddess Durga - The victory of Goddess Durga over the buffalo demon Mahishasura is also represented during Dussehra.

Ravan Dahan 2025 One of the highlights of Dussehra is the celebration of Ravan Dahan (burning of ravana effigies).

 Large effigies of Ravan, Meghnath and Kumbhkaran are lit on fire in open fields, in front of thousands of on lookers. The evening comes alive with fireworks, Ram Leela shows and celebrations.
