How to improve employee productivity

Right and upgraded tools are necessary for better productivity.

Employee productivity, also known as workforce productivity, is the efficiency of the workers. Employee productivity is the maximum output your employee gives in a given amount of time. Organizations with highly productive employees can pull out hefty and strenuous tasks and less amount of time.

It is necessary for any organization to analyze their employee productivity because employees play a key role in the success of any organization. After measuring the productivity and analyzing that it is not up to the expectation, then it is very important to improve it.

Here are some of the factors that can be very helpful in improving employee productivity at your workplace.

Using the right tools

Right and upgraded tools are necessary for better productivity. Like the employees’ skills, their tools also play an essential role in enhancing the business’s performance. Providing them with the upgraded software’s will make their work more manageable and less time taking.

Providing them training

According to a study in 2013 in the International Journal of Science and Research, training provides benefit to both employer and employees. Because by training, employees can develop a lot of skills from time to time, which can be very helpful in improving an organization's productivity. It also equips them with useful skills which helps them later in their career.

Encourage and appreciate employees

The best thing that a company can do in improving employee productivity is by encouraging and motivating employees. You should have leaders in your organization who have empathy. Who can understand the strengths and shortcomings of other employees? This will keep your workers happy and productive.

Always appreciate employees who have done a good job and show them that you know about their performance. This will keep them motivated and they will always give their best for the same appreciation. Another way to encourage your employees is by involving them in the company’s decision-making process and making them feel that they also contributed to the company’s success at a strategic level.

Giving incentives to employees

It is very common in any organization’s management that they focus a lot on senior-level economic incentives and neglect the employees working under them. But this is completely wrong and it's best not to neglect fundamental incentives for lower-level employees because it will keep them committed to an enterprise's success.  While you don’t want people to be motivated by money, it is still one of the most effective tools in keeping employees productive and retaining them. Executives and senior-level employees play an important role when it comes to giving incentives to junior employees. We will explain this later in the blog.

To the argument that this will be unduly costly, a program has to be carefully structured, of course, so additional payouts reflect clearly defined revenue and/or earnings targets.

Allow flexible hours and remote work:

Employees are humans. They have lives. They don’t just work. Having a lot of responsibilities on their shoulders, workers sometimes try to rush through their work to complete the task within the given deadline.

Doing things hurriedly can affect the quality of work. So, never impose rigid deadlines on your workers. An organisation should allow remote work to because it can make them more productive. Several studies have shown that when workers can manage their hours, they become more productive.

Accountability

So far, we have discussed quite a few tips to enhance productivity. But it is important that if the employee is receiving all those benefits and still, he cannot deliver the expectations KPI, he has to hold himself accountable.

Accountability means that each and every employee is responsible for his work at an individual level and he must face the consequences for that. Now, these consequences can both be positive and negative. Negative consequences might include having to work late to fix a problem, being denied a promotion, or failure to earn a productivity bonus.

These tips can help you keep your employees happy and make them more productive. Another hindrance in employee productivity could be bad teamwork. Great teamwork can only be formed after developing trust among your employees and getting them committed.  We will recommend you to consult an advisory consulting firm to help you make your employees more productive.
