The principal day of the offering will bring more than 500 parcels to sell, including a Royal Doulton adoring cup made in 1937 to stamp the crowning ordinance of King Edward VIII of the United Kingdom. Under the bearing of Doulton's Charles Noke, the caring cup style was made to respect recorded and social legends. The accessible King Edward VIII adoring cup shows the youthful ruler on the front, encircled by the banner of the United Kingdom and the public banner of England. Along the edge are the names of Britain's previous settlements, including Canada, Australia, Kenya, and India.

Additionally among the Royal Doulton things on offer are huge character containers and smaller than usual dolls. Regal Doulton character containers have been underway since the 1930s. The forthcoming closeout will introduce mugs looking like both genuine and anecdotal figures, including each of the four individuals from the Beatles and the storybook character of Robin Hood.

Royal Doulton Figurines

This December, Lion and Unicorn’s upcoming auction offers a variety of ceramics, bronzes, and figurines. Over 550 lots will be available, including a collection of Royal Doulton figurines. Founded by John Doulton, Royal Doulton entered the ceramics industry as a small pottery shop in Vauxhall, London in 1815. It launched various products over the years— from ornamental vases to stoneware figurines. Royal Doulton later collaborated with a young artist, Pauline Parsons, whose designs would lead the company to global recognition. Her popular works include salt-glazed stoneware and terracotta figurines of royalty, maidens, and military men. The lot available in the sale is a strong example of her work. It depicts Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip on their wedding day.
