It has led to this article, for providing an insight to the students, regarding the same. The tips we discuss here will pave the way for effective IELTS preparation.

Tips for getting high score in IELTS speaking test

1. Be Confident

English may appear an alien language for you. One of the most spoken languages in the world, English can be learned easily. Keep your fears and ambiguities aside before beginning the preparation. The IELTS coaching will appear as if a herculean task if you lack confidence. Language is for communication purposes only. Therefore, once you can convey your ideas, concepts, and thoughts you can get excellent grades. An under-confident person may not be able to do that. He or she will jumble up ideas, which will end up in unclear communication. Moreover, be confident. Reiterate yourself that you can.

2. Practice Voice Modulation

This is a crucial factor for fruitful communication. Give stress to the points and words that need attention, give silences for the points to sink in and talk passionately. Your method of answering will hook the examiner instantly. Once, s/he finds you confident and methodical, it will enhance your chances of passing the exam. Also, voice modulation will amplify the power of your thoughts.

3. Understand the Format of IELTS Test Correctly

What is the use of studying everything that comes to your way? No use at all. You must prepare what is essential for attending the exam well. Read about the exam format. Check the pattern followed in the previous years. Practice from old question papers. It will put you on the right platform for you to perform excellently during the IELTS exam.  The IELTS speaking test is the fourth and final part of the test. It is about 14 minutes. The speaking test is divided into three sections, viz. Introduction and Interview, Long Turn, and Discussion. Know what to expect and prepare accordingly.

4. Think and Answer

You don’t have to start answering the moment the examiner asks the question. You can take time (however, not too much) to think, gather your thoughts, and answer. The flow of information must be perfect for the examiner to follow your concepts. Be calm and think, even if the question asked is not from the topic you have studied. You will be knowing something about it. How you answer is what matters more. Think, imbibe the essence of the question and answer.

5. Answer Comprehensively

We have seen in the previous point that you must think clearly and answer. Try to answer as comprehensively as possible. Your explanation must be in such a way that the examiner shouldn’t have to ask “why”, “what”, or “how”. Cover all the aspects concerning the subject preventing any room for doubt. On the other hand, you must understand that the IELTS speaking test is not for checking your knowledge. It is for evaluating how you put forward your thoughts even if you are not aware of the topic. And most importantly, practice comprehensive answering.

6.  Avoid Big Words

There’s no need to use big and complicated words to establish that you are an expert in English. The examiner will be able to analyse your capabilities with the way you present yourself. Using uncommon words can backfire, at times. You might have found out the words using a thesaurus and memorized those. Nonetheless, it may have a different meaning in a different context. Thus, you will be making a mistake that can adversely affect your results. For example, if you check thesaurus, the word Preclude means “Stop” too. However, it will be wrong if you say, “A person precluded me on the way”. Always, talk in a simple manner.

7. Learn Strategies

You aim to impress the examiner and make him or her feel that you know the language well. Using phrases and proverbs can be beneficial. You must place those strategically to have an adequate effect. IELTS coaching centres in Kuwait and other regions prepare the students to answer elegantly to ensure better results. The expert tutors at IELTS academies can guide you about better strategies, which they prepared through their experience. This will be significant in cracking the IELTS speaking test successfully. Strategic answering is also the key to success.
