UK WIDE TRAVEL HAS BEEN RESUMED
Today is a landmark day for the UK travel industry as for the first time since Christmas 2020 can someone travel throughout the UK. Today the Scottish Government announced that it has moved the country from level 4 tier restrictions to level 3.
This means for the first time since Christmas last year can we travel between England, Scotland and Wales without any restrictions. People have been able to travel from England to Wales since the 12th of April, but after today’s announcement by Nicola Sturgeon people can actually go North of the border too.
All UK nations have reacted to the pandemic differently and have imposed and lifted restrictions differently based on their individual situation of the crisis.
Last month the UK Government relaxed the “Stay At Home” order but we were still not allowed to visit loved ones in Scotland or Wales, today’s announcement by Scotland has changed that and many of us will be relieved to know that we can now visit friends and family if and when needed.
12 MILLION PEOPLE VACCINATED
The Covid-19 vaccine rollout in the UK has been continuing with great success, over 12 Million UK citizens have now been administered both jabs of the vaccine, a truly remarkable achievement especially when we look at the numbers in neighbouring countries. These figures have encouraged the Scottish Government to open it’s borders to England. Please get vaccinated when you get the appointment come through and encourage others to do the same so that we can move towards immunity from Covid and back to normality.
WHAT CAN YOU DO IN SCOTLAND FROM TODAY?
From today up to 6 people from 2 different households can socialise together outdoors or indoors in public social places like Pubs, cafes and restaurants etc.
All pubs, cafes, restaurants and other hospitality venues are legally allowed to remain open till 8PM indoors but they cannot sell alcohol indoors, alcohol can only be served outside, subject to their local licensing regulations.
Gyms and swimming pools are open only for individual exercises, all shops, stores and close contact services like Hairdressers and Beauticians are allowed open now.
Driving lessons and tests can now be booked and taken which will surely make many youngers raring to drive very happy. Home improvements like painting, decorating and non-essential repairs can now take place.
Weddings and funerals can now take place, with a maximum gathering of 50, but the good news is alcohol can be served.
Public buildings like Galleries, Museums and Libraries can now open and indoor attractions are also allowed. Adults and children who were shielding can resume work or school.
Tourist accommodations can now open with restriction in place according to Government guidelines, you can fly from any Airport in England, Scotland and Wales.
