This section tries to evaluate your ability to extract information from written materials. There are three types of questions in this section:

  1. Reading Comprehension: This is designed to test you on a wide variety of abilities. One basic tip to ace this section if to have good GRE vocabulary. To ace this section we advise you to constantly read anything and everything. You should definitely read newspapers and novels. You should read one novel every week. 

  2. Text Completion: Text completion wants you to remove unnecessary information from passages. You must have good analytical skills for this section. You should know which information is necessary and which are not. 

  3. Sentence Equivalence: This section wants you to complete a passage. You should understand the passage and then decide its meaningful completion.

This part tests your basic mathematical skills. The syllabus is very vast but they are of 10 standard levels. If you have strong command over numbers and GRE vocabulary, this section is a cake-walk for you. Some questions are based on real-life settings and some try to evaluate your conceptual knowledge.
