Chances are you might be suffering from Endometriosis. The condition of Endometriosis is not uncommon amongst women, and mostly causes silent signs signaling that your health might be at risk. Although, the exact cause of endometriosis has not been identified, it is often associated with pelvic pain and infertility.

Reproductive health is an extremely important aspect when we consider the fertility science and talk about safer pregnancies. Although every woman tries to maintain her reproductive wellbeing, there are cases in which doctors have found that pelvic pain has been a major cause of underlying problems with one’s fertility and reproductive health.

In different cases, patients face different forms of troubles. Some might just experience persistence pelvic pain, while some just face troubles conceiving. You might be suffering from Endometriosis in any of the above cases. The issue of Endometriosis is common in women to some extent. A majority of them cause silent signs signalling that your health might be deteriorating day by day.

According to fertility experts around the globe, the cause of endometriosis is yet to be identified. However, it is often associated with pelvic pain and the issue of infertility. Multiple studies over recent years have identified the possible triggers of this benign yet severe condition. Medical reproductive statistics show that 3-4 out of 10 women across the world might be affected with endometriosis and they can have trouble conceiving.

Endometriosis and the process of its detection?

In the words of Dr Gautam Allahbadia, an IVF specialist and head of the Millennium Medical Center MMC IVF, Dubai, “When the lining of the interior of the uterus called endometrial tissue grows abnormally outside the uterus, the condition is called Endometriosis. Outgrowth is observed in areas such as your uterus, ovaries, tubes and on your bladder or intestines as well. This tissue can irritate structures that it touches, causing pain and adhesions (scar tissue) on these organs.”

Benign condition has an inclination towards the causes of infertility. These can be classified into four stages based on the extent, depth, severity of scar tissue, and the pertinent size of the endometrial implants (lesions found in ectopic locations) in the ovaries.

It is highly recommended that you go through proper check-up in case you face any of the following symptoms:

  1. Abdominal pain
  2. Irregular/ heavy menstruation, or painful periods (dysmenorrhea). Some women can even experience blotting in between the normal cycle
  3. Painful/bloody urination
  4. Painful intercourse
  5. Bowel irritation

What are the chances of Endometriosis reducing my chances of pregnancy?

It has been observed by doctors that Endometriosis is more common in infertile women, however that doesn’t mean you won’t be getting pregnant and have children. As per studies and researches, 7 in 10 women with endometriosis do not face any kind of problem in conceiving. It has been clarified that endometriosis can be a health-hampering disorder. For this reason, specialists suggest women to talk to their partners, and doctor so that it can be treated properly.
