How do you get around Mykonos? Mykonos has several forms of transportation on the island. Depending on your budget you can take advantage of their public transportation system by taking buses and taxis. There are also other options like renting a car, ATV or motor scooter to get around on the island. Mykonos is not a very large island, the island can easily be navigated on an ATV or motorized scooter.
How do you get to Mykonos? Currently there are no direct flights from the United States to the island of Mykonos. In terms of getting to the island there are two options. The first option is to fly from the Athens airport to the island. This is one of the more expensive options; however it is without a doubt the fastest. Also, if you were planning on bringing a car, this is clearly not the option for you. The other option is to take one of the high speed ferries from Athens to the island. This is one of the more popular methods of transportation and unlike a flight, allows you to bring your car to the island.
There are several lodging options on the island of Mykonos. Again, it depends on your budget, but their are a wide variety of accommodations ranging from hostels to five star hotels. There is plenty to enjoy on Mykonos, but word to the wise on time: Avoid traveling mid-July to August. This is the peak season and it seems that anyone who is anyone here at that time. But then again, if you thrive on the energy that can only be released by the crowd excited, the peak season may be the best time to go. You have to decide that for yourself, but for the first time visitor might be a good idea to visit Mykonos in the early part of July.
It is fairly close to the peak time it gets a bit busy, enough so that you can get an idea of what Mykonos nightlife like, but it will not be so overwhelmed by the visitors that you will not be able to enjoy some solitude. Remember that during peak time, even find a table, each table in a restaurant can be an insurmountable challenge. During the high season, if you do not make reservations well in advance, you may be out of luck when it comes to finding a table.
