There are 4 main base materials that are used to create hair replacement systems. Each one has its pros and cons and it really depends on the user and their lifestyle which is the perfect option for them.
1. Hair and skin systems:
Sometimes it is called Second Skin Membranes. The base is made of a thin gas permeable membrane. Durability is not a strong point. But you will get excellent appearance. Each strand of hair is injected by hand into a polyethylene skin and wound, then secured with a silicone layer. This process locks the hair and makes it look like it is coming out of the scalp. Do you need more realism? You can choose from several colors to match your skin tone. This foundation looks great with light to medium hair density. Perfect for liquid or tape.
2. Full lace hair systems:
They are sometimes referred to as French / Silk Lace Hair Replacement Systems.
The socket used in these systems is extremely difficult to see when placed against the skin. The hair is knotted (only) in the lace and appears to grow from the scalp.
You'll get a high definition hairline and bleached knots, not to mention the invisible hand-stitched cross-stitch sections for added durability.
The best Hollywood lace on the market, invisible pleats, bleached knots and a transition density hairline give you incredible realism in any light.
I only have one weakness and that is the extra maintenance as this socket is harder to clean and easier to damage. However, it is my preferred option. (It is the base that I use myself). Perfect for liquid or tape.
3. Lace frontal hair systems:
These bases are the best option for customers who want a natural hairline but a little more durability. If you're rough with your hair but want a natural-looking lace hairline, this is the foundation for you.
The lace front can be used to achieve a natural looking hair line and a more durable material can be used for the rest of the hair system. Therefore, these hair systems are a mix of leather, lace and conventional materials. The best thing about this base is that they incorporate a very fine polyester skin around the back and sides. This adds toughness and makes cleaning easier. (A little more durable than a full lace base.) The strands of hair are single knot (with bleached knots) with a high definition hairline due to the lace front. So if you want the durability of a conventional hair system, a beautiful frontline, and you're not too concerned with the top view, then this is the option for you.
Perfect for liquid or tape.
4. Conventional hair systems:
These hair replacements are created with a super fine nylon core with P.U. Coated or a P.U. C-Thru perimeter and high range in durability. Hair is injected into the front of the skin for one of the best lace-free hair lines. A one-inch polyester band around the back and sides makes it sturdy and easy to clean. They have a nylon center for greater comfort.
They are good but not as natural or comfortable as leather and lace bases. If you are rough with your hair and use it with an advanced style, then these Hair Systems are good and very durable. One of these would generally last a year. Perfect for liquid or tape.
The hair pieces are changing for the better
Thanks to the growing number of female celebrities who change their hairstyles on a regular basis, and the recent publicity about men, primarily actors and footballers, who use virtually undetectable hair 'enhancements', the hairpiece industry is evolving for the better and using the most advanced hair technology available.
For women, the choice of hairpieces has never been so great, or better yet. Partial or three-quarter hairpieces are proving very popular for those who need instant volume boost on their own hair. Full coverage pieces, or wigs as they are more commonly known, are now widely available in a range of Men's Hairpieces, real hair, and cap materials. A 100% raw European hairpiece is probably one of the most natural looking products on the market. Made of real, soft hair, these pieces can be added and heat styled (according to manufacturer's recommendations) using blow dryers or straighteners. Cap materials in full coverage hair pieces are now more breathable than ever. The fine micro mesh on the cap along with the hand-stitched strands of hair means this type of hair piece offers unmatched comfort and natural hair movement. The days of the hot sticky wig are gone. Lace front hair pieces are also popular as they offer the user a lightweight and virtually invisible hair line.
In terms of colors, most hairpieces can be highlighted or tinted according to individual needs. Many ready-to-wear hairpieces offer pre-highlighted or 'rooted' (darker roots) styles for an extra natural touch. Some hair pieces can be highlighted the day they are adjusted! Whatever your color or style choice, hair pieces are a great way to instantly restore your hair, not to mention your confidence.
For men, things have definitely gone the longest way! Gone are the heavy toupees in dull colors. Technological advancements mean that synthetic fibers are up to 10 times stronger than human hair, but still act like natural hair. Parts can be designed according to the user's wishes and colored accordingly. The part can also be discreetly attached for long-lasting results. So if you are an active person who loves swimming, no problem. In fact, men's hairpieces look so sophisticated and natural that even friends and family can seldom make out the difference from natural hair. Restoring the appearance of your hair with the help of a hairpiece requires an expert stylist who is familiar with advances in hair technology.
