Many of us have seen “scenes” from movies, where a character arrives at the LAX airport, there’s a car waiting for them outside on a traffic-free road and they get into the car and just drive away. Well, this is nothing more than an Idyllic Hollywood Mirage. LAX is one of the biggest and busiest airports in the world with over 50,000 employees.

Revamping of LAX:
This huge airport has been subject to humans (and their destructive behaviors) for a long time. There were smaller maintenance tasks but no major infrastructure was ever renovated. The traffic is increasing and the current infrastructure of LAX is failing to hold it all together. The government has started a 14 billion revamp project for LAX. Many roads have been closed; people are struggling to figure out new routes and transportation systems. Yep, there’s a new LAX airport transportation system introduced to minimize the traffic.
LAX is located in Westchester owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). In 2018 LAX is the world’s 4th busiest and United State's 2nd busiest airport and it is also the only airport that ranks among the top five United States Airports.
LAX-IT:
The new shuttle service is called LAX-IT and it has replaced all other hotel shuttles, uber, lyft and taxi services. Your only option (if you don’t have anyone who can pick you) is LAX-IT. It picks you up from right outside the baggage check and drops you off to a parking lot next to terminal 1, from where you can get any taxi, uber or hotel shuttle.
Problems with LAX-IT:
If you thought regular airport/hotel shuttles were bad, you need to try LAX-IT, compared to this new shuttle, those old shuttle services will seem like a blessing. LAX-IT is constantly crowded and is late to the point where it feels like it has completely forgotten where the airport is located. After it drops you off to the parking lot, you have to call an uber/lyft or wait for the hotel shuttle for another 15-20 minutes (maybe more). Another huge problem with Uber and lyft is, they may cancel if they don’t like where you’re going and you have to call another ride and wait for it (again). This cycle can repeat if your destination is odd.
Your options?
Fearing the current chaos going on LAX, you can’t just completely halt your travel to LA. Business, job, and other important matters may require you to travel. So what are the options (other than LAX-IT)? Uber/lyft and airport shuttles are not allowed inside the airport anymore but other drop-offs and pick-up policies haven’t changed. You can either:
- Get a private taxi transport service, or
- Ask a friend/family to pick you
If you have family/friends who love you enough to wait in the LAX traffic and pick you up, go with this option. They’ll be able to pick you from the airport and you won’t have to go through the vicious cycle of waiting for the shuttle and then taxi/uber.
If you don’t know someone in LA who can pick you, your best option is hiring a private LAX airport transportation service. These services come with a private chauffeur and are allowed to pick passengers from inside. You can directly hop into the car and leave, without waiting and with comfort, style and convenience. There are many transportation companies providing airport transfers so for the best services do check the customer's reviews and choose the best company for your travel.
One of the best private car companies is LAX Car Service MGCLS. They have great vehicles and staff and are licensed.
