Always keep in mind that a minimum weight of a yellow sapphire stone should be 3.25 Carats (6 Ratti). After you bring home your stone, you may want to purify it as it may contain impurities. For purification you may dip it pure cow milk. If the cow milk is not available, the holy waters of River Ganga or Gangajal would do it good. You may dip it for half an hour. Some keep it overnight and wear it next day. One should keep it for at least 15-20 minutes. Note the following points.

  • Best way is to wear it as a ring (gold or silver) in a way that a part of the stone touches your skin.

  • Wear it on Thursday between 5 am and 8 am. Its ruling planet is Jupiter (Guru) therefore Guruwar (Thursday) is the most auspicious day.

  • On that day, sit on a mat (preferably yellow colour) with your yellow sapphire ring dipped or drenched in the cow milk or Gangajal.

  • After taking out the ring from milk, keep it over yellow color Jupiter-drawn cloth.

  • Next is offering of incense sticks and yellow flowers to it with the 105 chants or recital of this Vedic mantra: “Om Brim Brahaspataye Namah.” OR “Om Brim Brahaspataye Namah Om.”

After this procedure, you can now wear the ring on your index finger or first finger of the right hand. Regular cleansing through DIY kit or a professional gemologist would make it last long.
