- Inception of Romsons
In 1952, we were the first innovative ‘Medical Devices Making Setup’ of free India. Romsons was first introduced with the name of ‘Romsons Scientific and Surgical Industries’ as a partnership firm after investing a small amount of INR 10,000 from Late Shri. Ram Lal Khanna and his two sons in Amritsar. The company started its journey by first making Scientific and Laboratory Equipment like Laboratory wares, re-usable Surgical Devices & Sets.
Phase of 60s
In 1962, we decided to shift our base to Agra, UP as we felt the need of handling our business from a centrally located place to become a better distributor of medical devices. In 1967, Romsons has taken a legendary decision of manufacturing disposable devices. In this introducing year, we made our first ever disposable medical device – A non-sterile Nelaton Catheter (Urethral Catheter).
The Expected growth was achieved during this time and hence the directors took the decision to expand the existing setup with new units for manufacturing different disposable medical devices by using different techniques. This crucial step helped us to broaden our business and achieve big milestones through this phase of our business. Also, the unit – Raj Vijay Corporation was brought to business this year.
Phase of 70s
In 1971, another corporation unit, Romsons Junior India was incorporated, which started manufacturing a range of Infusion Devices. 1974 was the year when a big breakthrough happened for the whole healthcare sector with the introduction of our first sterilization plant for medical devices set up at BARC, Mumbai. In 1977, Romsons Scientific & Surgical Industries, the partnership firm had converted itself into a private limited company. Directors felt this was the right time and decided to withdraw their laboratory equipment business to give more attention and focus to their medical devices making business.
The phase of 80s
The year 1984 brought us the luck of setting up the very first in-house sterilization plant in India. And it was the same year when the unit of Romsons Medicons was incorporated.
Phase of 90s
The year 1990 was another major breakthrough as the Directors of Romsons group were invited by CBI, Netherlands to participate in an event organized by them. They asked us to display our products and learn about exporting them to Europe. It was again a big breakthrough for us because we had to introduce a 100% dedicated export unit (In Agra) – Romsons International in 1994.
In 1998, we introduced an in-house tool room for repair & maintenance of moulds and R&D department for product development & design. In the great year 1999, we became an ISO 9009:1994 certified (28/04/1999) and gracefully validated with CE mark certification, which is the primary requirement for exporting equipment to European countries. Also, we inaugurated our very first fully automatic assembly machine to boost up our productivity and quality of our products.
Phase of 2000s
In 2003, we achieved the precious mark of ISO 9001:2000 certified company. Moving to 2006, we installed our hi-tech CNC milling machine for mould development. Later in 2007, We became ISO 9001:2000/ ISO 13485:2003 certified company. The year 2008 motivated us to implement the SAP ERP system for improved business management and implementing helpful business practices.
A new production unit, Romsons International Unit II (Noida - SEZ) was incorporated in the year 2009. It was another success added to our journey as it was the first production unit setup that we made outside Agra.
2010 – Till now
In 2013, Romsons International Completely shifted to the unit of SEZ Noida, for the purpose of manufacturing and exporting products to the International market. We achieved another milestone of incorporating an RGI Meditech unit to manufacture Disposable Adult Diapers with other health care and elderly care consumer goods in Noida.
In 2018, our R&D centre got recognized by DSIR (Department of Science and Industrial Research), which helped us accelerate the production of goods and also resulted in faster conceptualization and delivery of newly launched products. Since then, our business soul is on a relentless quest to introduce revolutionary products with our innovative and technological approach.
