How do I wash and dry my wigs?

Human hair wigs are expensive, but they're worth it. Because they are made from real hair, they have greater flexibility in straightening, curling and dyeing than wigs made from synthetic fibers. Like fake wigs, human wigs need to be washed regularly and use wig head dryer. However, due to their sophistication, you need to be extra careful.

Step 1: Brush or comb the wig from the end. Begin by gently brushing the ends of the wig. Once they are out of knots, move towards the roots until they can be brushed or combed without getting hooked. For straight or wavy hair, use a wire wig brush, for wigs, use a wide-toothed comb or finger (including natural/African textures)

Step 2: Fill the sink with cold water and add 1 or 2 strands of shampoo. Use the right quality shampoo for your hair. For example, if you want to wash a curly wig, use a shampoo for curly hair. If you know that the wig has been dyed, try using a shampoo that is a safe color. The wig fibers don't use shampoo directly either. Instead, you will wash the wig with soapy water.

Don't use two-in-one shampoos that contain conditioner. You can use conditioner on the wig, but you don't want to put it near the root.

Step 3: Turn the wig inside out and put it in water. Turn the wig cap inward with your fingers, suspending the wig fibers. Place the wig in water and press down on the fibers to immerse them. Spin the wig gently to help distribute the shampoo throughout the bundle. Turning the wig inside out makes it easier for the shampoo to reach the wig cap, where most of the dirt, sweat, and grease accumulate.

Step 4: Soak the wig for 5 minutes. Make sure the wig is completely submerged in water. Please do not move the wig during this period. Too much knotting, squeezing and spinning can cause tangles.

Step 5: Rinse the wig with cold water until you have used up all the shampoo. You can rinse the wig in a bucket of fresh cold water, or you can wash it in a sink or shower. Depending on the thickness of the wig, you may need to wash it twice.

Let the wig dry on a wig in direct sunlight. Don't brush your wig when it's wet, as this can damage the fibers. If your wig is curly, use your fingers to "curl" it often.

Curling means placing your hands under the ends of your hair, lifting them up, and then curling your fingers inward. This will cause the curls to gather and form curls.

If you use Styrofoam wig heads, make sure they are mounted on a stable wig rack. Secure the wig to the top of the wig with a pin if necessary.

If you need to blow dry the wig quickly. First, use a wig head dryer to dry the wig cap. When the hat is dry, place the wig on your head and secure it with bobby pins. When the wig is on your head, blow dry it. Be sure to use a low heat setting to avoid damaging the fibers. If your wig is curly, use a wig head dryer to blow out the hair. Maintain and reshape curls!

Before putting on your wig, be sure to secure your real hair and cover it with a wig cap.

If you need a larger wig, turn it upside down to dry. Turn the wig upside down and clip the nape of the wig cloak to the hanger. In order to do this, you will have to move the pins on the hanger of the pants closer. Hang the wig in the shower for a few hours to air dry. Do not use the shower at this time.
