Located in the Heart of the Napa Valley, Yountville is the perfect place to stay while exploring the Napa Valley. Whether you are coming for a girls weekend or a romantic getaway, Yountville hotels have something for everyone. When planning a staycation for my boyfriend and I we chose to stay at Hotel Yountville. Hotel Yountville is the perfect choice for those looking to experience luxury travel in a relaxed and comfortable setting.
Hotel Yountville is known as one of the best Napa Valley hotels and is located at the south end of town on Washington Street. An easy find right off Highway 29, Hotel Yountville is rooted in Yountville history. The building was constructed using Napa river rocks and heavy wooden beams which gives the feeling of being in a quintessential wine country home. Walking into the lobby felt like walking into a friends living room. A large fireplace and comfy couches beckon for guests to relax and unwind. The lobby bar, Y Bar, is open from 4:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. and is a great place to catch up with other travellers and learn tips on how to have the best wine country experience.
Check-in was easy with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Upon check-in, we were given a handy map of Yountville and a special list of partner wineries. The front desk staff were happy to provide any recommendations and help set up activity, winery or dinner reservations for us.
Walking into the hotel room took my breath away – one of the best Yountville hotels. The four-poster bed looked like the most comfortable bed ever made and the deep oversized tub was begging me to take a long relaxing bubble bath. Our King Room featured a sitting area, large gas fireplace, rain shower, makeup vanity, and a large mirror perfect for getting ready for an adventure. My favourite part of our room was the private outdoor patio, complete with two lounge chairs.
I left my boyfriend to lounge on our patio and I headed to the spa. The Spa at Hotel Yountville takes the philosophy of farm to table and transforms into a spa experience. Seasonal experiences guarantee that you will leave feeling rejuvenated in mind, body and spirit. I got to my appointment 30 minutes early, as instructed, to enjoy the steam shower. Already feeling relaxed I made myself comfortable in the waiting room. My therapist, Marcy, was friendly and informative. I enjoyed an hour-long full body massage followed by a thirty-minute scalp massage. I left feeling refreshed and ready to stroll around Yountville!
Upon returning to our fabulous room I was greeted with a bottle of Domaine Chandon sparkling wine and a cheese plate featuring three local cheeses and local honey. We savoured our goodies on our patio and enjoyed the warm summer afternoon.
After a quick rinse in the rain shower, we decided to go for a stroll along Washington Street. Washington Street is the heart of Yountville, lined with restaurants, tasting rooms, and shops that can easily take up a whole day. We stopped at Priest Ranch Winery to do a tasting before dinner. The tasting room has a comfy feel with big couches and it is open till 7:00 p.m., which makes it perfect as a pre-dinner stop. We both decided to do a standard tasting but were tempted to do the bacon tasting. The wines were tasty and our host was very knowledgeable. We walked away with a bottle of wine as a souvenir.
Going out to eat without a reservation in Yountville in the summer can be a bit of a risk as restaurants fill up quickly. Lucky for us, and everyone else, most of the restaurants offer the full menu at the bar. We picked Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bistro as our date night dinner. We were seated outside next to a table that just happened to have one of the chefs celebrating his birthday. I wanted to order everything on the menu. We started off our meal with the deviled eggs and the french onion soup (Tip: they make a vegetarian version that is just as good!). For our entree, I enjoyed the Truite Amandine (almond trout) and my boyfriend had the Moules au Safran (mussels with french fries). Both dishes were exquisitely done and left us wanting to come back. As good as the desserts looked we planned to pass until our neighbouring table had a birthday cake brought out for Chef John Carny. They were nice enough to share the cake with us and it was the perfect end to a great meal.
A romantic stroll down Washington Street brought us back to Hotel Yountville. I decided that the best way to end the evening was with a midnight swim. I was the only one enjoying the outdoor fireplace and comfortable cabanas that line the pool. The heated pool and hot tub are open 24 hours a day which is a very nice and unusual perk.
My favourite part of staycationing at Hotel Yountville was our breakfast at the Heritage Oak restaurant. Heritage Oak is open from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and is reserved for hotel guests only. The farm to table menu features seasonal offerings and one of a kind dishes. We chose to sit inside since the summer fog was making it a bit chilly, but on a warmer day sitting out under the 100-year oak tree would be a lovely way to start the day. I indulged in the apricot french toast with vanilla mascarpone cream while my boyfriend had a traditional breakfast with crispy bacon.
Unfortunately, all vacations must come to end. One nice thing about check out time at the Hotel Yountville is that is not until noon! This allowed for an extra morning dip in the pool before heading back to the real world.
While there are many Napa Valley hotels to choose from when you are booking your wine country vacation only Hotel Yountville effortlessly combines luxury and comfort in a wine country atmosphere.
