The valley gives captivating of untouched valleys in far off lands of Garhwal Himalayas.

How to reach?

 

By Air: The nearest airport is the Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun. The distance from Dehradun to Sankri is of 230km which can be covered by taxi.

 

By Road: Sankri is well connected with the major cities of Garhwal like Dehradun, Mussorie, Purola, and Mori. 

 

By Rail: The nearest railway station is at Dehradun. Sankri is well connected to other cities like Mussorie, Purola, and Mori.

 

Basecamp

Sankri is the basecamp to the trek of Har ki Dun. Sankri is a small hamlet in Uttarakashi district and trekkers delight. The village offers captivating views of the Himalayan skyline and a lot of mountain peaks gazing at you. You will have the background of majestic mountains, gushing rivers flowing along by your side, lofty pine forests which makes your trip a memorable one.

During this trek, you will pass by villages like Taluka. A small picturesque hamlet located at a distance of 12 km from Sankri. A cluster of wooden houses will grab your attention and you will see diverse Flora and Fauna. 

Further, this trek will take you another beautiful village Osla. Osla is nestled on the mountain slopped and surrounded by apple trees. The village is located at a distance of 26km from Taluka. The trek will further take you to the Har ki Dun.

Best time to visit

The best to visit the valley is in winter as you can enjoy the serenity and solitude of the place. The valley is best with snowfall during the winter season.

Har ki Dun- (-15 degrees) to (-10 degrees) 

Sankri - (-1)

Seema - (-3 degree) 

 

In summers, the place looks pleasant and there is no fog, the sky remains clear most of the time. If you planning to trek in summers then do not forget to carry woolen clothes as the temperature gets down in the night.

In monsoons, the region receives heavy rainfalls. It is advisable to avoid trekking as the terrain becomes muddy and slippery. Roads remain blocked due to landslides.

Har ki Dun trek begins from Dehradun and from takes you on an exciting drive to reach the basecamp at Sankri. The drive will take you to the enchanting beauty of the places Purola, Nainbagh, and among others. Sankri lies at an elevation of 1950 meters and offers picturesque views of the Himalayas. Trekking from here to the mystical village Taluka which is perched at a height of 2075 meters. Further, the trek to Osla stands at 2560 meters with its beautifully adorned temples. After that, a trek to reach Har ki Dun at 3556 meters will make your trip worth remembering.
